Incluye una serie de disipadores pasivos alrededor del microprocesador, así como por encima del chipset. Traerá seis slots de memoria DDR3 compatibles con Triple Channel y cuatro slots PCI-Express, con lo que podremos utilizarla con configuraciones de más de dos gráficas de NVidia en SLI y ATi en CrossFireX.
Un aspecto muy interesante y que la sitúa un escalón por encima de anteriores placas RoG con el X58 es la llegada de USB 3.0 y SATA 6 Gbps nativos, integrados en la placa. Son dos puertos USB 3.0 traseros, además de otros 2 puertos SATA 6 Gbps en el interior para conectar discos duros compatibles. Sobra decir que también incluirá varios USB 2.0 y un puñado de SATA2 (3 Gbps), para mantener la compatibilidad con los actuales periféricos.
En definitiva, Asus Rampage III Extreme es una placa base para los que quieran tener lo más potente del mercado, además de ser ideal para los overclockers, ya que incluye varias tecnologías y funcionalidades muy útiles que no están presentes en otras placas del mercado. Su precio rondará los 300 euros, siendo un objeto que casi podríamos considerar como objeto de coleccionista.
